SEFES meeting IV - Reykjavík

March 30- April 2, 2005

The meeting in Reykjavík was a great success. All participants shared esperiences of success with Self Evaluation in a variety of ways. One the one hand there were presentations with everyone present. For example Werner Maas shared his experiences at Hall, and the Polish delegation told of their renewal in language teaching using the methods worked on in the project. A very interesting addition was the presentation by Hafdís Ingvarsdóttir of the University of Iceland , and it showed clearly that both the successes and problems we have run into are shared by others working on school development.

A lot of the work was done in small groups, which then shared their work with the group. In this way a lot of information was shared, but sometimes some participants felt they were missing out on interesting insights. However, if done properly it seems this is the best way to organise a meeting such as this so that everyone gets to work on what interests him/ her.

The group met with our WebMaster, Hjörtur Hjartarson to address some of the issues there, the main result of that is to be found in the foundation of the Documents part of the Web.

The results of the meeting were that

  • we would continue to work on evaluation in all its forms
  • teachers would start working on evaluation portfolios
  • all schools would go through a photo-evaluation
  • a student conference will be held in Finland

At the end of the meeting we evaluated it and these were the results:

Meeting in Reykjavík – Evaluation!

  • Meeting agenda should be sent in advance to everyone.
