The  PHOTO  EVALUATION  in Rzeszow

RESULTS AND COMMENTS:

The photo evaluation was prepared by the students of the final year. They focused on both the positive and negative aspects of our school. They not only pointed out the weak points of the school but also suggested some solutions. Some of them were more humorous than serious thus suggesting that those negatives aspects are not that harrowing for their school life.

Nevertheless, the photo evaluation was presented to the Headmistress, the teachers and the parents committee. The changes that followed did not concern the little things, however. The parents suggested that the school should apply for some new computer equipment and pointed to some ways to obtain those. As a result, the Board of Education responded positively and equipped the school library with new computers.

The teachers not involved in the project were also shown the students’ photo evaluation. It helped them see the school reality from students’ perspective and understand that the what may seem a banality for them is quite a big issue for the students. Some of the teachers have got really into it and taken some steps in order to improve the situation.

Additionally, some renovation works are being carried out on the ground floor to facilitate the school life and increase security within the school buildings. A new entrance door and the intercome system have already been installed. It has partially solved the problem of late-comers and the few would-be smokers.

After a closer look, students themselves decided that some of their ideas were rather trivial and so rejected them.

The very idea of the photo evaluation turns out to be quite innovative and successful because it helps one to visualize the problem. The method is hoped to be used in the future for other purposes as well.
